Young adults with cancer have unique needs that typical kids camps don’t normally address.

With activities ranging from the adventurous to strictly relaxing, YAC Weekend is the perfect summer getaway for 18-25 year-old cancer survivors. The location for YAC alternates between the 4-H Center in Front Royal, VA to sites in the Richmond/Tidewater area, where activities include swimming, sports, crafts, games, and music – plus lots of pizza and socializing! Check out a sample YAC Weekend flyer (from June '13).

Special Love also offers the Kay-Moore Scholarship to past and current participants in our programs. Applications are due April 1st of each year.

Special Love is partnering with Inova Fairfax Hospital's Life with Cancer program to offer "I'm Cured... Now What?" on Saturday, July 27th, in Fairfax, VA.  The day-long conference will give young adult survivors the chance to mix and mingle with each other and share information on everything from nutrition and late effects to employment and educational issues.  Click here for the conference brochure and plan to attend - scholarships for post-secondary education are available!  (The photo above pictures last year's many winners.)

The Ulman Cancer Fund, in cooperation with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Georgetown Hospital, also has a support group for young adults. Their monthly meetings will combine fun, fellowship and information - click here for more information.
